Committed to the community.
Baird Gives Back Week
Baird Gives Back Week is an annual spring initiative where Baird associates around the globe come together to support local charitable organizations through volunteer service. In 2025 alone, more than 1,900 associates volunteered more than 6,000 hours of their time with over 200 nonprofit organizations.
In 2025, our team proudly participated by volunteering with Open Arms Minnesota, a nonprofit that prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to critically ill Minnesotans, and People Serving People, an emergency shelter supporting families experiencing homelessness. We’re honored to contribute to these impactful organizations that help strengthen our community.
Our team is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work. We volunteer our time with several outstanding organizations, here are a few we are passionate about:
The Kelly Phillips Charitable Foundation
Service. Compassion. Faith. Academics.
These are the tenets by which Kelly Phillips lived, which now guide this charitable foundation created in memory of her.
The Kelly Phillips Charitable Foundation provides funding for safe teen driving initiatives as well as financial support for youth charities in church, athletics and academics.
Dan and his wife Jane founded the Kelly Phillips Foundation in memory of their daughter.
DinoMights
DinoMights is a youth development program featuring hockey in Minneapolis. Its philosophy centers around maintaining relationships with youth from their elementary years through high school graduation, and providing them with the various kinds of support they need to become self-assured, competent adults.
Dan resides on the DinoMights Board of Directors. DinoMights is a beneficiary of the Kelly Phillips Foundation.
Mahtomedi Area Education Foundation
MAEF enhances educational opportunities for students in Mahtomedi Public Schools - providing grants, scholarships and other support to ensure a brighter future for all. Over the years MAEF has given over $2.5 million back to our students and schools.
Brandon became involved with the Mahtomedi Area Education Foundation shortly after his family moved into that community in 2013. During that time, he spent five years on the Grants Committee, helping guide the foundation's financial initiatives. He was then invited to join the board of trustees and served as the treasurer from 2019-2021.
Best Buddies
Best Buddies is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-on-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Colin and his Best Buddy Jonathan have been paired since 2021. They enjoy going to Twins games, trying new restaurants, and volunteering their time to local organizations.
Common Hope
Common Hope promotes hope and opportunity in Guatemala by partnering with children, families and communities who want to participate in a process of development to improve their lives through education, health care, housing and family development.
As a way to promote education beyond their local community, Brandon's family is an ongoing sponsor for two children at the Common Hope school in Antigua, Guatemala.
Buena Vista University
Dan is a proud alumnus of Buena Vista University and was elected to its Board of Trustees in 2016. Dan's extensive financial services experience and deep commitment to BVU and its students brings a well-informed and robust perspective to the University.
Paul Purcell "Kids Win!" Annual Baird Education Grant
In addition to being one of the most influential leaders in Baird's history, Paul Purcell was passionate about education and ensuring all children can access the knowledge and tools necessary to build better futures. In his memory, Baird has established the Paul Purcell "Kids Win!" Annual Baird Education Grant to benefit qualified nonprofit educational organizations that share this passion and purpose.
In total, the 2026 "Kids Win!" grant recipients will be awarded $2 million to support efforts that enhance programming and resources for children, from early childhood through higher education.
